food_slider_01_05 There is no shortage of fantastic cuisine in Metro Detroit. Greek, Italian, Middle Eastern, Polish -- great food everywhere you look. If you like to eat, you've come to the right city! Of course, it's next to impossible for you to experience all of Detroit's great restaurants during a short visit. In fact, we would be lying if we told you we've tried them all. What we can do is narrow it down by providing you with a few of our favorites and regular standbys. While it's inevitable we've left off some good ones (either intentionally or unintentionally), we're pretty sure you will thoroughly enjoy the ones that made the cut.

Dakota Inn Rathskeller -- Highland Park (German / $)

An authentic biergarten built by a German immigrant in 1933. Just like the real thing.

La Dolce Vita -- Palmer Park (Italian / $$$)

Well-hidden, chic Italian eatery with a bubbly atmosphere. Wonderful secluded patio open in summer.

Layfayette & Amercian Coney Islands -- Downtown (American / $)

Detroit staples open 24 hours, so no excuse not to try coneys that have become the stuff of legend.

Los Galanes -- Mexicantown (Mexican / $)

A Mexicantown mainstay known for its all-day buffet and tortilla-making right in the front window.

Nemo's -- Corktown (American / $)

Cold beer, great burgers, and plenty of sports-loving patrons (located next to the old Tiger Stadium).

Pegasus Taverna -- Greektown (Greek / $$)

Serves traditional Greek favorites in the heart of Greektown.

PizzaPapalis -- Greektown (American / $$)

Decadent super-deep-dish pizzas located in Greektown.

Rattlesnake Club -- Warehouse District (American / $$$)

Cutting-edge contemporary American dining with a great view of the Detroit River.

Roma Café -- Eastern Market (Italian / $$)

The oldest Italian restaurant in Detroit (founded in 1888). Located steps from Eastern Market.

Slows Bar-BQ -- Grand Circus Park (Contemporary / $$)

Not too shabby for the north! In fact, extremely yummy.

Small Plates -- Grand Circus Park (Contemporary / $$)

Unique appetizer dining concept located a stone's throw from Comerica Park and Ford Field.

Xochimilco -- Mexicantown (Mexican / $)

An anchor of Mexicantown known for its lively atmosphere and tasty cuisine.

The Whitney -- University (American / $$$)

An exquisitely restored Victorian mansion. Grab a drink before or after dinner in the upstairs bar.

Tom's Oyster Bar -- Jefferson (Seafood / $$)

Excellent selection of fresh fish and an array of fresh oyster choices. Several metro locations.

V Gonella's Original Deli -- Dearborn (Italian / $)

Simple, straightforward subs and deli sandwiches served on your choice of hard or soft Italian bread.

Miller's Bar -- Dearborn (American / $)

Frequently rated amongst the best burgers in the country. You keep track of your tab.

The Henry Ford Estate Restaurant (a.k.a. "The Pool Room") -- Dearborn (American / $)

Dine in the room that used to house Henry and Clara Ford's fifty foot swimming pool.

Oakland County (North & West of the City)

Ginopolis – Farmington Hills (American / $$$)

Amazing fall-off-the-bone secret recipe ribs. Check out the autographed celebrity pictures on the wall.

Gravity Bar & Grill -- Milford (American / $$$)

Chic and contemporary bar and grill atmosphere. Worth the drive to Milford.

Hong Hua -- Farmington Hills (Chinese / $$)

Upscale Chinese dining in a casual setting.

It's a Matter of Taste -- Commerce Township (Contemporary / $$$)

Chic Euro-syle décor, casual atmosphere, well prepared food, and an excellent view of Union Lake.

Kruse & Muer on Main -- Rochester (Seafood / $$)

Casual and lively atmosphere with a great menu in downtown Rochester.

The Lark -- West Bloomfield (French / $$$$)

Fine dining at its best 50 years running. Continues to garner praise in the national press.

Lelli's -- Auburn Hills (Steak / $$$)

The best filet mignon we've ever had. Enough said.

Little Tree Sushi Bar -- Royal Oak (Asian / $$)

Best sushi in Detroit. Features Thai, Philippine, and other Japanese entrees as well.

Mitchell's Fish Market -- Birmingham (Seafood / $$$)

Did someone say this is a chain? Doesn’t matter to us -- best seafood in town.

Mon Jin Lau -- Troy (Chinese / $$)

"Nu-Asian" upscale Chinese with a chic and trendy atmosphere.

Pronto! -- Royal Oak (Contemporary / $)

Offers a wide variety of creative and unique sandwiches, salads, and desserts.

Red Coat Tavern -- Royal Oak & West Bloomfield (American / $$)

Ain't no sliders here. These are half-pound slabs piled high with any toppings you like.

Ruth's Chris Steak House -- Troy (Steak / $$$)

What? Another chain? Don't let that dissuade you from dining at this outstanding steakhouse.

The Stage Deli -- West Bloomfield (American / $)

New York-style deli featuring Reuben-style sandwiches stacked to the ceiling along with tasty salads.

Macomb County (North & East of the City)

Mr. Paul's Chophouse -- Roseville (Steak / $$$)

70's décor straight out of "The Godfather". Best Caesar salad in town made right at your table.
